Weekly Wrap-Up

We had a good week. I made a few changes to get the girls more motivated to get their work done. It seems to be working. I told them we will not get to do anything or play with their cousin till Friday, and only if they have their have their school work done.

Nownie went with us this week to Sci-Quest, so of course the girls enjoyed that.

This is what Baylee made at Sci Quest this week.

We got a little more caught up on math.
I am covering 3 different text for Baylee's science, and she seems to be enjoying it. Or maybe I'm just enjoying it more. LoL
Molly is working on a bridge project for her physical science class. She has to write a paper on bridges and pick a specific bridge to add to her paper. Then, she has to sketch a bridge and make a model of her sketch. This ought to be fun.
For Literature: Baylee is reading Arrow Over the Door, and Molly is about to finish up Early Thunder.

Now for the biggy....we have been using Tapestry of Grace for the past two years, and I have decided to start using the textbook method.
Molly will start 9th grade next year. Right now we can barely get our tapestry work done in a week; next year there is going to be more history work and a lot more literature work. I am afraid we won't be able to get it all done, so we are moving to textbooks. I really feel like the girls will get a lot more accomplished this way.

Homeschool Mother's Journal - WK 4

In my life this week...
Baylee was sick last week, and it looks like it's making its way through the house.  I was sick at the beginning of the week, and now Molly is sick.  We got another round of snow (only about 2 inches).  But it was enough to shut the city down for a day.  I think us Alabamian's have had enough snow; bring on the warmer weather.

In our homeschool this week...
We did so much better this week, even with the sickness.  We stayed home more, and got more accomplished. We are even catching up on our math lessons.

Places we're going and people we're seeing...
We didn't do much this week.  Baylee went to Sci Quest for a class, and Molly is suppose to work on her cake decorating badge Saturday; with her AHG group.

My favorite thing this week was...
That we stayed home, and got a lot of school work done.  Yippee!!!

What's working/not working for us...
Having a complicated schedule is not working, so we are going to try something a little different next week.  Click here to see what this is all about.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have...
I am starting to think about next year.....wait, I have been thinking about next year. My oldest will be in the 9th grade.  I am just hoping I am doing everything right, and I am not going to mess her up.  There is so much to think about ant to cover.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share...
My girls are going to get me for this one, but I had to share.  Here is a another reason why Homeschooling is so great.  My oldest is sick, so I let the girls sleep in today (Like almost lunch time late). I walking in to make sure they are awake, and this is what I see.
